  • I have multiple trees/properties, can I get a discount?
  • Typically speaking its harder to do more work for less money. However, we can often include neighbor discounts if we can avoid multiple mobilizations to the jobsite(s). This means that multiple neighbors who have smaller jobs are able to sync up their appointments so that 1 crew can complete multiple tickets in a single day.
  • A tree/branch just crashed on my house/car. What do I do?
  • Assess the situation and confirm that emergency services are not needed; then call us at 916-722-6321 and we will walk you through the next steps. During high volume storms, text or email photos with your contact information (name, address, phone number and email) is the fastest way to get an actionable response.

Note: We ARE able to work with your insurance company. Please get your policy information handy for your customer service representative.

  • Are you licensed/bonded/insured?
  • Yes, fully (see link)

  • Are the employees certified arborists?
  • We have both certified arborists and apprentices working at BP Tree Services at any given time. Everyone at BP Tree Services is an experienced, professional or under the direct supervision of a certified arborist during their training period.

  • What is an arborist? Why do I care?
  • Truth be told, you only need to hire an arborist if pruning your trees. Any trained faller with adequate experience (and insurance) can remove a tree.

Arboriculture is the study of trees. Arborists are the science nerds who want to tell you about how your tree processes nutrients, why it reacts to certain outside factors the way it does, and teach you about 4th wall healing. An arborist is going to help your tree thrive for its lifetime- its an investment worth making. It's your trees favorite uncle who comes to visit every 3-5 years who gives you that special advice; sculpts your tree into the right direction to make it stronger. An arborist knows to prune when a tree is dormant, they know when to prune a fruit tree, or an Oak for that matter. They can identify that pest, fungus or source of your leaf curl. Trees are our passion, and that’s why were here!

FAQs about Stump Grinding & Removal

  • Does stump grinding include surface roots?
  • Stump grinding does not include surface roots. Much of the stump can be hidden below grade, typically the stump grinding operator will work an area approximately 3ft diameter around the visible stump.
  •
  • What happens with the debris generated?
  • The mulch (stump/dirt combo) will be backfilled into the hole and left onsite. For large stumps, this will result in a mound of debris. We recommend watering the mulch for a month, allowing the ground to settle before you remove any debris.
  •
  • How big is the machine?
  • We will need to ensure that there is 36 inches clearance for machine access.
  •
  • How deep do you go?
  • While every situation is unique, most stump grind outs range 12-24" in depth.
  •
  • Do I call 811?
  • It is the operators responsibility to call 811. Please note that all stump grinding services require utility locates (CALL 811) that take a minimum of 3 days to obtain. 811 will NOT mark utilities if the area has not been pre-marked by the homeowner or BP Tree Services first. Ask us today to start the process for your next job!
  •
  • Is the stump grinding done at the same time as the tree removal?
  • Tree removal and stump grinding services will be performed by separate crews and may not be performed on the same date dependent on scheduling.
  •
  • I have rocks/cement/raised planter bed/ something in the way. Is that a problem?
  • We offer FREE, no obligation estimates. Have us out today to make a plan for that problem stump.
  •
  • My drip system/irrigation is perfect. Will you mess it up?
  • BP Tree Services has NO Blueprints for your irrigation, sprinklers or drip system. We make every effort to preserve things that are above ground and visible to us, however please have your landscaper or plumber available for any minor repairs to your lines as the machinery is very unforgiving to PVC and underground lines.
  •
  • Can I watch?
  • No. Even from a seemingly safe distance, with our barricades up- rocks and debris can still become airborne and shoot surprisingly far. Please remain away from the work area during the stump grinding process. Our operator will have you out to assess everything prior to leaving.
